Night Life in Playa del Carmen gathers more people than the fabulous beach itself. If you have been to the Mediterranean, Greece, Italy, Spain, Ibiza…You will the same way, meet everybody in specific walkways, narrow streets and pedestrian areas, all close by in the same “Party District”. In the almost permanent High Season, Playa del Carmen and Riviera Maya can cater over 50,000 tourists per night, a big portion of which will show up in Playa’s “Party District”. Amusement will be soft and lower impact; more adult wise, as compared to the Spring Break type performed at Cancun Bars and Clubs.
You will be able to distinguish 3 types of places to hang out on. You will have the “Restaurant-Bar Category” where in addition to dinner, you will get music, drinks and a lot of fun, in places to see people and be seen by people. Most will be on or connecting to “La Quinta Avenida” and open to watch the streaming flow of pretty and happy people, enjoying a very cool evening. You will also have Bars and Clubs with a permitted “Bare foot Shoe Code” fore they are directly on the edge of the beach. The third grouping and very important, are the clubs and Discos which get going after 11:00PM as La Quinta Avenida bars smooth down.
The Area is well identifiable, all along 5th Avenue between Juarez Street up to Constitucion (16th Street). Clubs Concentrate on side streets between 8 and 12th Street and go down towards the beach where you find a beach Icon called Blue Parrot one of the very first since the Mid Eighties, next to which other bear foot places on the sand have surged such as El Pirata, Coco Maya, Bad Boys Beach Club and The BBBC.
On 12th Street as you go towards the beach, you’ll find “Om” a European exclusive type Bar with DJ music and cover. Across the street Bali dance club. On the opposite side on Calle 12, between Fifth and Tenth Avenues, find Santanera, dance to Salsa, , A block away, La Ranita, on Calle 10 between Fifth and Tenth Avenues, as well as Big Al's and Redneck Steve's Beer Bucket, you also find The Tequila Barrel, and Básico Lounge. If you like Salsa, on Calle 6 between Fifth and Tenth Avenues, don’t miss the Mambo Café live Band and Dj for dancing.
On the south end of Fifth Avenue, inside the Paseo del Carmen shopping mall area, find Carlos & Charlie’s, a Mexican place for people who like it loud. Close by you find find La Bodeguita del Medio a Cuban restaurant with Music and Salsa Lessons as the one in Havana Historic District. On the Ferry Pier side you will find Señor Frog, another loud fun place. As you go back North along Fifth Avenue, you will see Roof Bar & Restaurant. On the next block and across La Quita Avenida,. you’ll find next between Calle 6 and 8, Bourbon Street blues restaurant bar as well as Fah bar with live music on the same block.
